Jeff Homan
Jeff Homan has been active on Pacific Northwest music scene for three decades, and has resided in beautiful Portland, Oregon for the last 25 years. He is a graduate of the University of Oregon School of Music, where he studied saxophone with former Marcel Mule student J. Robert Moore, as well as doing graduate study at Arizona State University, where he studied saxophone with Joseph Wytko and jazz improvisation with Chuck Marohnic.
Jeff is currently on the teaching faculties at the University of Portland, Reed College, and Concordia University, where he teaches classical and jazz saxophone, improvisation, and woodwind techniques. He also has a thriving private studio, where he teaches all levels of saxophone, in addition to flute and clarinet. Over the years, Jeff has produced many students who have won and placed at the Oregon State Solo Contest and received outstanding soloist awards at major jazz festivals.
Jeffhas performed with a wide variety of jazz and popular artists, including Ella Fitzgerald, the Temptations and the Four Tops, Arturo Sandoval, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Curtis Salgado, David Foster, Nancy King, Michael Buble, and many others. He has numerous recording credits, including recordings with jazz fusion pioneer Dan Siegel, avant-garde jazz legend Anthony Braxton, and the Third Angle New Music Ensemble. Additionally, Jeff has an ongoing musical relationship with Grammy and Emmy award-winning musician/writer/visual artist Mason Williams.
In the classical venue, he has performed with the Oregon, Eugene, Columbia, and Vancouver (Washington) Symphonies, and the Britt, Cascade, and Sunriver Festival Orchestras.
Jeff is currently performing with the Swingline Cubs, the Art Abrams Swing Machine Big Band, the Linda Lee Michelet Big Band, and the Portland Saxophone Quartet. He can be heard as a featured soloist on Art Abrams' latest CD, “Speak Low, Swing Hard” as a featured soloist.
