Ed Hull

West Texas horn maestro Ed "Mr Improv" Hull is a busy guy, whose improv skills and genuine laid-back attitude have garnered him a top-shelf professional reputation that stretches back over three decades. Ed swears by his TP608 trumpet which he gives demos all the time when he is not performing or in the studio.

During his 20-year military career, after playing with a few well known big bands and Las Vegas Showroom bands,  Ed built and led his own very popular 15 piece big band in Vegas -- Ed Hull and the Soft Sounds Orchestra -- and was featured in the popular ballroom dancing magazine Dancing USA several times. Many of Eds sidemen were  original members of Glenn Miller, Kenton and Dorseys bands back in the 40s-60s.

Ed and his band performed with many world-renowned stars, including Phyliss McGuire, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, to name a few. Ed was also a member of the Air Force Band, and has recently performed with several high-profile regional acts, including the Jazz House Blues Band, MGB, Ed Rush. Ed does much work in recording studios throughout Texas for bands across the country.

Ed also plays horn and percussion effects with another popular band, the Latin Rhythm Aces, who just completed their second CD “Return of the Rain,” the follow-up to “Blessings of Rain.” Ed has done a ton of recording studio work in Vegas, Austin and San Angelo, TX, and was recently inducted into the International Trumpet Guild. Ed recently recorded many of the trumpet parts along with a few other musicians on ACM Recording Artist, Donna Linton's newest album "Notice."

Ed was picked as the Artist of the Month for November and December 2008 and July 2010 by Austin, TX promotions company Austin All-Arts Promotions Media.

Ed's reputation and knowledge  allow him to volunteer teach at Angelo State University teaching, conducting and performing guest solos in the jazz department for many years. Because of his dedication to music as well as music education, Ed was given honorary life memberships into two prestigious professional music fraternities, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Tau Beta Sigma. The Angelo State University faculty and staff think very highly of Ed for his dedication in helping teach, mold and inspire the music students and future music educators of tomorrow.

Ed recently performed with The Temptations in front of 5,500 fans, and was asked to assemble the entire horn section for this amazing concert. He will be performing for other world-renowned acts in the near future. The music industry from coast to coast admire Eds genuine nice and caring attitude which leads them to ask Ed for help on many various projects.
