Dan Kaneyuki is a Los Angeles based saxophonist, composer and recording artist. He received his bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music located at California State University Long Beach. The 2013 Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composers Award winner currently tours the world with legendary recording artist Engelbert Humperdinck. Dan’s improvisational talents have also led him to play at jazz festivals all over the world including the Monterey jazz festival and the Java Jazz festival in Jakarta, Indonesia. In addition to being a sideman, Dan also leads his own quintet, playing his original compositions around the Los Angeles area. His compositions are a unique blend of jazz, R&B, and rock which creates an intellectual music that is also very accessible to the audience. His live performance credits include Diane Schuur, Bobby Caldwell, Gregory Porter, Roy McCurdy, Jason Alexander, Laura Fygi, VJ Rosales of the Filharmonic, Poncho Sanchez, Jim Snidero, James Moody, Tom Kubis, Matthew Morrison of Glee, The New York Voices, Eric Marienthal, The 10,000 Maniacs Cheryl Bentyne and Janis Segal of the Manhattan Transfer and Grammy-award winning Earl Klugh at the Hollywood Bowl and the Cerritos Performing Arts Center. He also appears regularly with many Southern California based bands including the The Elliot Deutsch Big Band, The No Vaccancy Orchestra, Filipino American Symphony Orchestra, Ron King Big Band and Mike Barone Big Band. He is also a member of the award winning swing band The Tim Gill All-stars.
