Virtuoso Tenor Saxophone

Marcelo started his musical studies at age of 8 at La Salle School Orchestra and after that, attended musical theory at Music Conservatory of Rio de Janeiro. He had also saxophone/Jazz private lessons with sax/flutist Renato Franco, Bob Sheppard, George Garzone, Donny MacAslin and Ricky Margitza, harmony with Sergio Benevenuto and harmony and arrangements with trombone player/arranger Vittor Santos.


He has worked with such Brazilian MPB/Pop/Instrumental Jazz artists as: Djavan, Gilberto Gil, Ivan Lins, Guinga, Gal Costa, Caetano Veloso, João Bosco, Airto Moreira, Flora Purim, Moacir Santos, Alceu Valença, Leila Pinheiro, Roberto Carlos, Flávio Venturini, Francis Hime, Olivia Hime, Chico Buarque, Cidade Negra, Titãs, Jaques Morelembaum, Ricardo Silveira, Nico Assumpção, Mario Adnet, Arthur Maia, Ed Motta, Marisa Monte, Zé Ricardo, Paulo ''Mou'' Brasil, Luiz Brasil, Torcuato Mariano, Idriss Boudrioua, Marcos Nimrichter, Scott Feiner, Jeff Gardner.


Marcelo coleads the instrumental Group "FOCO", with João Castilho, Jefferson Lescowich e Renato "Massa" Calmon, whose second Cd called "Tempo Bom com Chuva" was just released by Dubas Musica Record Label.
